Utilizes a very soft, compressive fit, with a belt suspension to cover and retain postoperative dressings for trans-femoral amputees. Surgeons often want to limit compression therapy, while still needing to retain postoperative dressings. In the past, many methods have been used, (tape, glue, netting, loose fitted elastic wraps) all with limited success. To solve this problem Knit-Rite has created the Dressing Retention Sock. Designed on the model of Knit-Rite's popular Compressogrip AK Shrinker. Very soft Lycra® and CoolMax® body for very low compression. Universal right or left belt system to maintain secure suspension. Great tool for developing relationships with your physicians. Aids in retaining surgical dressing in place—particularly with obese patients.
Can be used for AK or BK. Can be used over dressing and then use an ace bandage over the top to apply “controlled” compression. Does not irritate or stress sutures during donning. Does not compromise peripheral circulation in marginal bypass vascular grafts; at times limited compression is desired for the first week or so. Can be used in combination with removable rigid dressings. Trains patients in sock management. Helps assess patient compliance with future pre-prosthetic regimens. Low cost. Little staff training required at hospital. Gets patient into the prosthetic services earlier.
