Restorative Medical Inc. Store Braces
Restorative Medical Inc. Store (Neuroflex) braces, sometimes referred to as a restorative splint or restorative brace, are
typically prescribed to individuals suffering the effects of neurological injuries or diseases.
This may include trauma involving the brain or spinal cord or diseases that generate involuntary
muscle contractions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, cerebral palsy or ALS (Lou Gehrig's
disease). What all these conditions have in common is something called neurological tone, whereby
muscles are made to randomly contract and, over time, adapt to the new contracted position by
permanently shortening.
Use of an appropriate orthopedic splint or restorative medical brace, such as those featured
here in our RM Neuroflex Store, are designed to counteract these muscle contractions. They flex
when the affected muscle contracts, moving with the contraction, creating resistance to the
movement and reversing the action in a spring-like fashion. This brings the limb associated with
the contracting muscle back to its original position, giving it no opportunity to adapt to the
deformed, contracted state.
